What is Jamaican Brown Stew?
Jamaican Brown Stew is a luscious stew that is traditionally made using chicken, browning, vegetables and a strong dose of spices and herbs that simmer down to create a thick, brown, sweet and sour stew with a little kick of spice. This version of brown stew however is plant-based so no animals have been harmed in the making of this recipe and although we substitute some of the traditional ingredients for healthier alternatives, the result is still a hearty flavorful dish.
What will this recipe entail?
This deliciously aromatic dish starts with browning fresh crimini mushrooms and ends with stewing soft and creamy butter beans in a host of spices and herbs. The key to making this plant-based re-make to Jamaican Brown Stew Chicken really taste authentic is in the spice choices. We'll be using Hot Jamaican Jerk seasoning, "No-Soy" Soy sauce and of course apple cider vinegar and maple syrup for that sweet and sour aspect.
